Radio CavellRadio Cavell provides entertainment and information for the patients, staff and visitors at The Royal Oldham Hospital. We broadcast on 1350AM and Radio Channel Five of the bedside Entertainment ('Hospedia') system and provide a range of music, entertainment and information programmes.
Prestigious award for Dave
Our longest serving member, Dave McGealy, is to be awarded the Civic Appreciation Award at the meeting of the Oldham Council tonight.
He is only the fourth recipient. Dave has volunteered at Radio Cavell for over 40 years and is the Station Manager at Oldham Community Radio. Well done Dave, a much-deserved award! (Photo courtesy of the Oldham Chronicle)
Links with Newbridge School
Radio Cavell is pleased to be working with Newbridge School.
They will be assisting us with our publicity by designing flyers and posters to be be given to patients and displayed around the hospital. The posters are nearly complete and soon Terry and Sabbah will be meeting patients on the ward.
Bag Pack at Adsa
In December, Radio Cavell members donned Santa hats and wrapped themselves in tinsel, as our latest fundraising efforts hit Asda Chadderton.
We helped shoppers pack their bags in return for some gratefully received donations, and used the opportunity to inform the local community about our hospital radio station. At the end of a successful day, Radio Cavell raised £221.28, which will help with the continual day to day running of the station. Thanks to all those who donated.
